The Latest News

Theresa had surgery on her legs last Thursday to remove the extra bone growth that was causing her so much pain. Because she has nurses and therapists at home, she was able to come home right away, instead of enduring another long stay in the hospital. Yesterday she had Botox treatments in her neck. In addition to alleviating pain, both procedures will help give her better positioning in a wheelchair, so that she can move herself around.

A physical therapist, an occupational therapist, and a speech therapist each visit Theresa twice a week. The goals that Theresa has set for herself — in her order — are to talk, to walk, and to get back to school. Anyone who knows Theresa's quick wit and razor-sharp observations understands why she puts talking first on her list!

Now for the FAQs:

Will Theresa want visitors? You bet! You may need to be a little patient as Theresa and Mom transition back home and into a new routine with visiting caregivers and a teacher, but being close to friends and family is one reason that Theresa has been so desperate to come home.   So your visits will be very, very welcome.

Will Theresa be able to slip out to the mall or the movies? Not yet, but she's one giant step closer.

Share your thoughts. Post messages directly to the site through our blog, or email messages to Theresa's Aunt Michelle.
